The mathematical model of a hoisting induction motor drive with a direct torque control is developed. The electrical drive uses an electromechanical brake which coil is series included in one of the phases. The mathematical model describes in detail processes in a hoisting electrical drive allowing the development of various control methods and the converter and the brake design.
