Abstract
In the paper the effectiveness of earth fault protections within the detection of resistive short-circuits was estimated based on the measurement of the impulse-increase of the zero-sequence or phase currents. The influence of the network, compensation and forcing circuit parameters as well as the location of the measuring point was taken into account. It was demonstrated that the impulse-current protections are much more effective than zero-sequence overcurrent ones.
