GIS-based visualization of power flows and voltages of electrical network diagram

Abstract
To ensure a stable operation of the modern power system it is necessary to analyze an increasing number of parameters in time. In this work we propose to use the Geoinformation System (GIS) and its tools for displaying and studying the information concerning the system. On the example of a simplified model of the electric network in Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan, we show how it is possible to visualize power flows and voltage values and obtain the animation of these for a 24-hour period using the GIS.
